First and foremost, middle school is a crazy place no matter where you're at. This school has a great principal and staff who try their best to run a smooth school system while putting the best interest of the students first. They really do try to nip bullying in the bud, but they have to be made aware of situations in order to do so. As a parent, I find comfort in the presence of the resource officer assigned to the school.

Sweet and sour. That's how I view the school personnel here. Very good teachers for the most part, especially considering their low pay! But beware of some of the support staff. Rude, angry, selfish and dishonest individuals lurk among those working hard to keep their integrity and jobs! Kids are kept busy and they have great music and art departments. But if you're expecting your child to be treated like anything than just a number, you will be in for a surprise. As long as you get in, sit down, shut up and don't question the employees and ignore their mistakes, well then you'll feel like you've died and gone to heaven.

I think some of these parents need to start accepting the responsibilty of how their children behave. Blaming others does not get results. Accept that perhaps you should get more involved and perhaps teach your child to not blame others for their lack of performance. I am so excited for my child to continue at this school. Great teachers are here, but great kids are the result of great parents and perhaps this school needs better parents.

This School Is THE WORST SCHOOL EVER If Your a parent I would recommend you pay that 900 dollars for private school!!! People have to fight to be "popular" in that school. I was bullied all through my 6th grade year. When I got in 7th grade I was FORCED to fight on the bus while the bus driver just drove and didn't move an inch. I got suspended for 5 days and removed from the bus for 2 weeks! I am now a freshmen at Ashley Ridge and hoping every thing gets better. I didnt forget to tell you about my 8th grade year either!! IT SUCKED!! We Didn't have a prom or get a certificate of completion!! Just save up 900 dollars and get your child in private school!!!!!

My son was an honor roll sudent at OES, he is now about to fail 7th grade, he only just passed 6th grade.I`ve had parent teacher conferences but the teachers don`t stick to what they say they are going to do to help. My son has also been bullied numerous times by various students, although suprisingly most of the bullying comes from his history teacher who enjoys verbally abusing him. Overall, I would love to get my child out of this school, it is ruining his education.

This school has a terrible problem with bullies. I wish I had never put my son in this school. I feel like the bullying problem is taken lightly and nothing is done to correct it. Also, they refuse to give my son, who is ADHD, a 504. He is entitled to that by law.

I am in the the same boat as the other parent that HAD a consecutive honor roll student at risk of failing this year. These teachers have no regard for their student's progress as not one teacher has tried to reach me concerning his grades. May I add my son maintained honor roll status in school in Ohio whose academic status is ranked 6th in the states!!! The teachers are quick to blame parents for their lack of competency in preparing these students for high school. My son has constantly been bullied since we moved here, We will be moving back to Ohio so my kids can get out of this ghettofied school system who obviously doesn't give about their students.Oh & the online system. A joke. I submitted my email address 2 months ago to have his daily assignments sent to me and no reply!!!

I am a student at OMS. I am totally unsatisfied with the way they have taught their students and how the treat them. The principle at this school has no control of the students. There are fights every single day. While students are doing outragous things with no supervision. I think that this school need total improvements made.

My son has gone from being a honor roll student to being at risk of failing this year. He has felt that he had to try and fit in with these kids in order to survive and it has resulted in nothing but trouble. 75% of these teachers don't care about out children and don't even care if the child fails. You would think that a teacher would do everything in her power to assure a student pass their class as this reflects on the teacher, the school, the district, and the state of SC, but then again, that why SC is the worst in the Country in education. Teachers do not have control of these kids and they have no real descipline in place. Capital punishment needs to be placed back in schools to give the teachers and principles control again. Kids have no fear of teachers or principles.

This school is not preparing students for high school. They are getting them ready for prison. I'm reading other ratings and I see complaints about the lack of discipline in the school. As the parent of good kids who are constantly yelled at, bullied and stuck in lunch detention - it's clear that they are just not disciplining the right kids. My daughter is struggling in one of her classes - instead of the teacher contacting me, she puts her in 'mandatory study hall' (a.k.a. lunch detention) where she is not allowed to have a hot lunch. That's right - she has to eat a bag lunch because she is having trouble in her class. While in this detention, she is supposed to sit there and study. Really? She's having trouble - what about finding out what she's having trouble with instead of punishing her? OMS stinks!

My son just started at OMS this year and we have had nothing but problems. Problems with communication with the counselors, principal and teachers. I am very disappointed we moved into this district because of OES and OMS, and OES we absolutely loved. The kids run this school and have no respect for their teachers as well as other students. I don't feel the administration is taking the right steps in discipline or my child that does behave would not end up being the child that doesn't want to go to school anymore. He feels he is outnumbered by the kids who misbehave. This will be the last year my child attends this school.

This is the first year my children are attending Oakbrook and it will be the last. The children do not respect oneanother nor do they respect their teachers. The teachers and principles have no control over these students and because of that the good students have to suffer. My son and daughter in previous years have enjoyed going to school but not anymore...they are now scared of school. Sad, very sad!
